Quick troubleshooting

My overlay isn’t appearing on the storefront

Theme app embed enabled? Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds → toggle PageLock on → Save.
One switch does it all — the PageLock app embed turns on both the password screen and the search-engine block.
Lock active? PageLock admin → Locks → confirm the lock toggle is on.
Path match? For path locks the URL must match exactly, or use * as a wildcard. /pages/vip matches only that URL; /pages/vip* matches /pages/vip, /pages/vip-2, etc.
Clear your saved access. If you already unlocked the page, your browser is holding an access pass for it. Open the page in a private/incognito window to see what a new visitor sees, or clear this site’s data (cookies AND site storage) and reload.

I locked myself out / forgot the password

PageLock admin → Locks → edit the lock → set a new password → Save. It takes effect immediately.

My secret link stopped working

Revoked: someone revoked it — generate a new one.
Expired: the expiry passed — generate a new link.
Active but not working: confirm the linked lock is still active and the URL path is correct.

Google indexed my locked page

While the PageLock app embed is on, matching URLs receive a robots noindex instruction in the rendered page. Search engines decide when to recrawl and honor that instruction, so PageLock cannot guarantee immediate removal of a cached result. Use Google Search Console’s removal tool if the URL is urgent.

I uninstalled by mistake

Uninstalling deletes your PageLock data straight away, so reinstalling starts fresh and you re-create your locks and links.

Can I lock a headless / Hydrogen store?

No. PageLock relies on the theme app embed, which runs only in Online Store themes. A headless storefront would need a separate proxy integration that PageLock does not include.

Can I lock checkout pages?

No. Checkout is a separate runtime that doesn’t load theme app embeds. Use Shopify’s native checkout extensions for that.
